Uppsala Short Film Festival 2024

As part of the 43rd edition of the Uppsala Short Film Festival, we warmly invite you to screenings of a selection of short films from Czech production and co-production: 3 MWh by Marie-Magdalena Kochová, Sheep Story by Rakel Andrésdóttir, My Name is Edgar and I Have a Cow by Filip Diviak, and the film BLOOM directed by Nitya Ramlogan.
Four short films in Czech production and co-production will be screened at the prestigious festival in Uppsala, taking place from October 21 to October 27, 2024. This is the only Swedish festival dedicated to short film production, and since its establishment in 1982, the festival has built a reputation as one of the most significant in Europe in the field of short films. It annually screens around 300 films and includes various competitive sections, including animation and experimental films.
3MWh (2024)
The short film 3MWh by director Marie-Magdalena Kochová was created as a 12-minute film poem at FAMU. It tells the story of a nuclear power plant employee who sets a maximum limit on his electricity consumption. However, the energy meant to last him for the rest of his life is slowly running out. As a result, he faces the decision of what to transform his remaining energy into.

Sheep Story (2024)
This short film by director Rakel Andrésdóttir was also created at FAMU as a result of Czech and Icelandic collaboration. In this bizarre animated story, a person finds a home in the body of a sheep, feeding off its body while ignoring its desperate cries. However, he eventually goes too far and must face the consequences.

My Name is Edgar and I Have a Cow (2023)
This short film by Filip Diviak is aimed primarily at a young audience and tells the story of a young man named Edgar, whose mundane life is disrupted by the rescue of a newborn calf. However, when the calf grows and begins to destroy the things dear to Edgar, his life is turned upside down.

BLOOM (2024)
Nitya Ramlogan directed this short animated film, created with handmade paper and textiles. The film follows a plant child moving between two worlds: the plant roots of its family and the urban house where it now lives.
