Musical sparkles of the Scintilla project echoed at the Embassy

(This article expired 10.05.2017 / 10:50.)

On Wednesday March 22, 2017 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Oslo hosted a concert held by a famous Czech composer and pianist Beata Hlavenková in cooperation with a Norwegian musician Anders Aarum. The event was a great success.

The one hour concert had an attendance of record numbers. The event was held in the framework of the Scintilla (Spark) project, which has an objective of presenting Beata Hlavenková´s music in the Czech Republic and in Norway. Hlavenková and Aarum played a nine-part suite from an album of the same title (the album was released in 2015 and was nominated for the Czech music award Anděl in the category Jazz and blues). After a whole-hearted applause of the audience craving for encore, Hlavenková played in addition three compositions from her earlier solo album Theodoros (2013), which won the Anděl award in the category Jazz and blues.

The music fields, the author explores most, are jazz, classical music, singing, minimalism and other. There are also many Czech and foreign guests contributing to the Scintilla album, who step into Hlavenková´s live concert music via playback records. By all these means Hlavenková opens to her audience a unique pathway deep into the aspects of her life that provide her – and presumably to many of us as well – inspiration, motivation, joy and comfort. Every composition of the total of nine on the Scintilla album has a characteristic title, because – as the author herself stated during the presentation of the concert – the stories behind the music are of a great importance for her.

The Scintilla project is funded by the EEA and Norway grants.
