Application requirements
When all necessary documentation at hand, applicants for long-stay visas are asked to make an appointment to submit their applications at our Embassy via the e-mail riyadh.consulate@mzv.gov.cz.
A part of this e-mail must be an acceptance letter from the university/school. The residents (non-Saudi, non-Omani, non-Bahraini, non-Yemeni) must attach also a proof of residency longer than 2 years. In case the proof of stay longer than two years will not be sufficient, the appointment will not be provided.
Please beware that the visa decision procedure can take up to 60 days, in certain cases up to 90 days. Contact the Embassy regarding the visa application decision only if you have not been contacted by us after the 60-day period expires.
The applicants must submit the required documents in following order:
Visa application
Copy of a passport
Copy of a residency card (non-Saudi, non-Omani, non-Bahraini, non-Yemeni)
Parents’ consent (if the applicant is a minor)
Copies of parents' ID‘s (if the applicant is a minor)
Document confirming the purpose of stay
Proof of accommodation
Proof of funds
Copy of the front page of payment card connected to applicants bank account
Police clearance certificates
The applicant is also required to bring copies of all documents in the same order. Please bring the copies in a separate file, do not mix them with the orignals.
Long-stay visa application requirements:
1. a valid travel document (recognized by the Czech Republic, not older than 10 years, containing at least 2 free pages, its validity must be at least 3 months longer than the validity of the long-term visa),
2. 2 photographs (3,5 x 4,5 cm, light background, no head covering except for religious reasons),
3. a duly completed and signed visa application form,
4. a document confirming the purpose of stay (i.e. the original enrolment letter in the university or in other accredited study programme, issued in the Czech language); in the case of business visa a document confirming the entry into the relevant Czech business register, list or record - "výpis z obchodního rejstříku" or "výpis ze živnostenského rejstříku",
5. a proof of accommodation:
- either the original lease contract or its certified copy, the official declaration of the accommodation provider with his/her attested signature, or a document proving the applicant's ownership of a flat or a house in the Czech Republic – in original or a certified copy, issued in the Czech language;
6. a proof of funds in the Czech Republic and the proof of access to them from the Czech territory, such as
- in case of scholarship - original document proving that the applicant is entitled to a scholarship from the Saudi/Omani/Bahraini government – such document needs to be further attested and translated into the Czech language – for details see Remarks below,
- in case of self-paying students - an original or stamped bank account statement (best periodical one) with a copy of an international credit card linked to this account – in case the bank account’s owner is the parent, there must be a declaration by the parent that s/he will support the offspring during the stay in the Czech Republic, translated to the Czech language - suggested form (PDF, 264 KB) in Attachment II may be used) – periodical bank account statements submitted in English do not need to be translated into the Czech language;
7. a police clearance certificate - provided in original containing the attestation stamp from the respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs,- for details see Remarks below:
- issued by the applicant´s home country,
- and also issued by the state in which the applicant has had a residence for 6 months or more in total in the last 3 years, if relevant,
8. If the applicant is minor (below 18 years), a written consent of both parents (PDF, 204 KB) with the student’s stay in the Czech territory is obligatory (the declaration must be translated to the Czech language - for a dual language form kindly contact the Embassy).
9. Visa fee: 2500 CZK payed in cash in SAR.
10. After the long-term visa has been approved – upon collection of the visa, a certificate of comprehensive medical insurance needs to be presented. More information regarding comprehensive health insurance can be found in an article Medical insurance for stays longer than 90 days
Important Remarks:
- the application needs to be submitted by the applicant in person at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riyadh,
- the visa fees and other possible consular fees (e.g. for superlegalization, verification of translation, etc.) need to be paid in cash in SAR or by card in CZK,
- all original letters issued by the foreign government authorities (i.e. police clearance, birth certificate, high school/university diplomas, etc.) MUST contain the attestation stamp from the respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Kindly note that the attestation stamp needs to be placed on the original or a certified copy, but not on a simple copy!
* in case of Bahrain/Oman the stamp of Apostille applies,
* in case of Saudi Arabia the e-Apostille applies,
- all foreign documents MUST be translated to the Czech language. As formally a certified translation is required, and at the same time the Czech embassy cannot verify translations between Arabic and Czech, we strongly recommend to all applicants to have the translation stamped by the Apostille/legalization stamp as well, if possible. - all documents must be submitted in original or a certified copy!
- long-term visa applications with the purpose of “study” are decided by the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic within 60 days. During the decision period the applicant may be called in for an interview at the embassy, if requested by the respective Czech authorities.
- Effective July 1st, 2023 all the residents who want to submit their long term visa/stay at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riyadh must prove that they have been staying in KSA, Oman or Bahrain legitimately and continuously for at least 2 years. In case they are not able to prove it, the application will not be accepted.
