Foreign Affairs Committee of the Czech Chamber of Deputies in Latvia

The delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Marek Ženíšek, visited Riga and Adaži on May 23 - 24, 2022.
The Speaker of the 13.Saeima, Ms Ināra Mūrniece, has received the delegation on May 23. The delegation further consulted with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 13. Saeima led by its Chairman Mr Rihards Kols, met the members of the inter-parliamentary friendship group led by its Chairman Mr Jānis Vucāns and visited NATO StratCom CoE and its Director Mr Jānis Sārts on May 23. The meeting with the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Ms. Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica took place on May 24. The important point of the trip was the visit of Czech Army soldiers to the NATO eFP mission at the military base in Adaži - a reinforced pontoon platoon of the 15th Engineer Regiment with a total of 80 people has been serving here as part of the 8th rotation since January.
The talks focused on the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the support of both countries to Ukraine, as well as on energy issues, partnership in NATO as well as the Czech Republic's preparations for the forthcoming CZ PRES in the Council of the EU.
The visit to Latvia and other Baltic countries was the first foreign trip of the newly established Foreign Affairs Committee after the general elections in 2021.
