On September 25, 2018, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riga organized a traditional award ceremony for winners of the 46th International Children's Art Exhibition Lidice 2018 in the premises of the Riga City Hall.
The UNESCO International Organization declared 2018-2028 as the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”. Therefore, the 46th edition of the competition was dedicated to the theme of "Water (above gold)" as the main theme of this year's competition.
This year, 121 Latvian schools and individuals were registered to participate at the Art Exhibition of the ICEFA Lidice. 758 works, paintings, drawings, graphics, ceramics and combined space works from schools and children's centres were sent to the Czech Republic, 29 of which the best-qualified jury has selected with 29 honourable awards and two medals "Lidická růže".
The Czech Ambassador Miroslav Kosek, Astra Aukšmuksta from the State Agency for Education, Eiženija Aldermane, Head of the Education, Culture and Sport Department of the City Council, and and Ilze Rimicane, Project Coordinator MDVV Lidice in Latvia, opened the award ceremony. Then, the Ambassador handed out the diplomas and medals to the young artists. Furthermore, the screening of the Czech fairy tale "Third Prince" by Antonín Moskalyk took place with simultaneous interpretation by Māris Delveris.
Young artists and their teachers reaffirmed their country's membership as regular ICEF award winners. We appreciate the talent of the children and the enthusiasm of their teachers, parents and project coordinators. Congratulations!
Our thanks to the curators of the Lidice Exhibition, the jury and all employees of the Lidice Gallery: this exhibition could not be realized without their dedicated work.
Thank you.
