Presentation of the textbook "Practical Grammar of Czech language" at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riga

On Thursday, 20 October 2022, at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riga, we officially christened the new textbook "Practical Grammar of Czech language", written by our colleague and Assistant Professor at the University of Latvia Naděžda Kopoloveca. Our Embassy financially supported the publication of the book. From November the grammar will be available to students at the National Library of Latvia, the Humanities Library of the University of Latvia and the Academic Library of the University of Latvia.

On the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council, the Day of European Languages, the 25th anniversary of Czech language teaching in Latvia and the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Centre of Bohemistics and Polonistics at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia, the debut of the textbook "Practical Grammar of Czech language" by Nadežda Kopoloveca, Assistant Professor at the University of Latvia, took place on 20 October 2022 at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riga. The event was attended by 30 guests, including representatives of universities and libraries, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, members of the Union Latvia-Czechia and others.

About the textbook

This new publication is an overview of the contemporary Czech written language and contains information of the historical development of Czech language and a description of its phonetic, lexical and grammatical system. The grammar can be used as supplementary material to any Czech language textbook. Due to its practical focus, the book contains only the most important grammatical phenomena necessary for the use of Czech language from beginner to B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. "Practical Grammar of Czech language" will be useful for all those who want to learn Czech language to be able to communicate comfortably. The grammar is intended for Latvian university students, self-taught learners and others interested in learning Czech language on their own. The publication of the book was co-financed by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riga.
