Čechomor in Latvia

On June 19, 2018, a joint concert of the folklore group Čechomor and Latvian Symphony Orchestra Sinfonietta Riga took place in the Grand Guild concert hall in the historical center of Riga within the Czech-Slovak cultural week. The joint Czech-Slovak event occurred in the frameworks of the celebrations of centennial of the birth of Czechoslovakia and the 50th anniversary of the Prague Spring.
The concert started with the solemn speech of Ms. Dace Melbārde, Minister of Culture of Latvia.
Čehomor group consists of Karel Holas (violin, vocal), František Černý (guitar, vocal), Adam Malík (guitar, clarinet, vocal), Matěj Lienert (drums, vocal), Lukáš Čunta (guitar, vocal) and singer Martina Pártlova. The audience of the Great Guild could enjoy the Čechomors songs like song Slunéčko (Sunset), Proměny (Transformations), Mezi horami (Among the Mountains), Vyšly ryby, vyšly (Fishes), Dobře ti je Janka (Happy Janek), Zdá se jim (I Had A Dream), Mamko nedavej mě (Mom, Do Not Make Me Get Married, Husičky (The Geese), Hruška (A Pear), V zelené háji ( In Green Grove), Svatba (The Wedding), Voják (Soldier), Šimbolice (Streetwalkers), Větříček (The Breeze), etc. along with the accompaniment of Sinfonietta Riga.
Right from the beginning, the ensemble managed to create a very nice and joyous atmosphere. Each song was rewarded with warm applause, and when the drummer Matěj Lienert performed solo, the audience burst into long-lasting applause. The concert was attended by more than 400 guests, and the concert hall of the Grand Guild was completely full. The concert was followed by a reception with a presentation of Czech, Moravian and Slovak wines and Budvar beer.
There was a wide response in Latvian media respectively this joint performance with the Sinfonietta Riga: Latvian daily newspapers and Latvian radio made their reportages, interview with artists was broadcasted by Latvian television.
