Ambassador Miroslav Kosek Visited the Latvian National Qualifying Round of 45th ICEFA Lidice 2017

On February 16, the House of Latvian Society hosted a national qualifying round of most successful works of Latvian children for the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Art Lidice 2017.
 

Works of art, pictures, sculptures and paper products, glass and ceramics are exhibited in the premises of the Riga City Hall. The selected works will be sent for participation in the 45th edition of the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2017. The United Nations has declared 2017 as International Year of Tourism therefore this 45th annual competition is dedicated to the theme "Travel".

In Latvia, there is a huge interest about ICEFA for many years, and this year's Latvian preliminary round evidenced it. Totally, 1,165 works from 49 Latvian regions and cities have been sent to the competition from which 196 selected drawings will be sent to Lidice to be evaluated by a jury.

At the afternoon ceremony Agra Berziņa from the National Center for Education of the Ministry of Education addressed to the children with opening speech.

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Latvia Miroslav Kosek greeted the attendees and in his brief speech stressed the importance of the competition. He was pleased to see the great interest expressed by the children and adults. The Ambassador wished the young creators good luck and thanked the children and their teachers for their participation in the competition.

During the event, the words of gratitude repeatedly were heard in address of Czech Embassy in Riga for their active participation in the project, which is rated as very successful and which promotes the interest of young artists in the visual arts as well as increasing the awareness of the Czech Republic among the little and young Latvians.
