One World 2026: Ten Films Reflecting Contemporary Issues Head to Brussels

From April 20 to 24, 2026, the prestigious human rights documentary film festival One World in Brussels returns to cinemas across the city.
This year’s nineteenth edition, organised by People in Need in cooperation with the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU and other partners, features ten outstanding films addressing today’s most pressing issues, ranging from the impact of Russian aggression in Ukraine to the fight for women’s rights in patriarchal societies.
The program will kick off on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Cinema Galeries with the documentary “2000 Meters to Andriivka.” The Permanent Representation will actively participate in the program with two film screenings held directly at its premises at Rue Caroly 15: On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, audiences can look forward to the film “A Free Daughter of Free Kyrgyzstan” about rebellion against the system, and on Thursday, April 23, 2026, to the documentary “Welded Together,” which follows adolescence in contemporary Belarus.
All screenings are in English and open to the public.
