Czech Ball in Brussels 2011
01.02.2011 / 20:12
The fourth installment of this prestigious Czech event was held under the patronage of the President of the European Commission, Mr. José Manuel Durão Barroso, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Mr. Petr Nečas, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg.
Organizers of this year’s Czech Ball in Brussels (Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU, the Capital City Prague and the Pilsen Region) would like to express their gratitude to all guests who accepted our invitation and to all artists and the production agency for their professional performance during the evening of Friday, 28 January 2011.
The fourth year of the Czech Ball fully confirmed its traditional rank among the highlights of the cultural and ball season in Brussels, and, at the same time, its role of the most important representative event of the Czech Republic for the audience from EU institutions.
This year offered a mixture of classic dance music, performance of comic trio Tros Sketos, concert of young Czech musical group Toxique, and a closing disco by Martin Hrdinka. The hosts for the evening were Tomáš Hanák and Martina Poštová. The attention of guests was drawn also to this year‘s innovation – the Advee robot, developed in the Czech Republic, which provided the guests with raffle tickets and drew the winners.
The Czech Ball traditionally offers its guests a wide range of refreshments – Moravian wines from the Czech Republic Wine Fund, Czech pretzels provided by the Odkolek bakery, and an appetizer prepared by Belgian traiteur (La vie de Châteu) were crowned by traditional Prague ham off the bone, served at midnight by chefs of the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU and the Permanent Delegation of the Czech Republic to NATO.
The constantly crowded dance floor, happy smiles and statements of the guests in Concert Noble and following thank-you e-mails are the greatest reward for the organizers of this event and at the same time a reason to think about how the next Czech Ball, planned for 2012, could be improved even further.
The final thank-you belongs to the following significant sponsors and partners of the event, without whose cooperation, financial contribution and valuable prizes to the raffle the Czech Ball 2011 could not be organised:
- ČEZ, a.s – general partner of the event
- Telefónica O2 Czech Republic, a.s. – main partner of the event
- Škoda Auto, a.s. – main partner of the event
- Bohemia EU Planners and Brussels Airlines – partners providing flight tickets for the artists
- Bender Robotics, VUT Brno and the South Moravia Region – providing the Advee robot
