V4 Seminar in Durban, 4 June 2015

(This article expired 30.06.2017 / 02:00.)

A seminar on trade and investment opportunities with the V4 countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) was organised by Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) in Durban on June 4, 2015. The event was very well attended: about 90 participants from local companies, representatives of the provincial government and the CEO TIKZN were present.

Mr. Neville Matjie, General Manager of the CEO Office TIKZN as the Programme Director, welcomed the participants and spoke about the objective of the seminar – to respond to the surging demand for mutual business contacts, represented by several recent missions from the V4 countries to KZN as well as a number of business enquiries; and to enable the companies based in KZN to personally interact with the economic diplomats of the V4 countries from Pretoria and Johannesburg. The results of the seminar should feed into the preparation of a business mission, which TIKZN would like to organise into the V4 region.

A short DVD film about KZN and its economy was viewed for the benefit of the economic diplomats of the V4 countries. Ms. Katarina Králíková from the Embassy of Slovakia to South Africa, as the representative of the country that currently holds the rotating presidency of the V4, then provided an overview of Visegrad (V4) cooperation and the region, highlighting similarities as well as specifics of the four countries. Short presentation of each country was given by the respective diplomats: Ms. Katarina Králíková on behalf of Slovakia, Dr. Kálmán Meszaros on behalf of Hungary, Mr. Andrzej Krezel on behalf of Poland and Ms. Ivana Klímová on behalf of the Czech Republic. After a vote of thanks by Ms Donnée Kruger, Manager of TIKZN Gauteng office, networking and B2B discussions closed the seminar.
