(This article expired 31.10.2019 / 12:42.)

On April 1 - 4, 2019, Mr. Pavel Pavel from Strakonice, a famous experimental archaeologist and technician, visited Norway. During his first visit to Oslo ever, he gave a lecture at Kon-Tiki Museum and then at the home of Thor Heyerdahl in Larvik. Both events met great interest from both the professionals and the wider public as well.

The name of Dr. Pavel is very known in the field of experimental archeology. His most famous public achievement was an experiment with a cast model of a moai statue well-known from Easter Island in his home-town Strakonice in 1981. This experiment successfully confirmed Pavel's theory that the statues on Easter Island were transported in the upright position to the beach.

Based on this experiment, Mr. Pavel was invited by outstanding Norwegian archeologist, writer and adventurer Mr. Thor Heyerdahl in 1986 to repeat his experiment directly on Easter Island. Dr. Pavel's successful attempt made him famous all over the world.

Not only about above-mentioned facts, the famous Czech technician and writer was lecturing in an interesting and engaging manner in front of the fully-crowded Kon-Tiki Museum Lecture Hall. In addition to the professionals and lay public, members of the diplomatic corps as well as children of the legendary Thor Heyerdahl - daughter Bettina Heyerdahl and son of Thor Heyerdahl jr. were present in the audience.

Mr. Pavel visited the birthplace of Thor Heyerdahl in Larvik as well, where he received a warm welcome by Ms Beate Bjørge, director of the Thor Heyerdahl Institute in Larvik. At the end of his stay in Larvik, the mayor of the town Mr. Rune Høiseth gave Mr. Pavel an appointment.
