On 9 September 2026, Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic, attended the State Funeral of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway in Oslo, one of the most significant public events in modern Norwegian history.
Together with other heads of state, members of royal families and government representatives, the President took part in the funeral procession and the service held at Oslo Cathedral. The presence of more than thirty heads of state and government, as well as representatives of nearly all Europe’s reigning royal houses, underscored the exceptional international respect and esteem enjoyed by King Harald V.
As part of the accompanying programme at Oslo City Hall and the Royal Palace, President Petr Pavel briefly met with the new Norwegian monarch, King Haakon VIII, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Finance and former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, as well as other foreign dignitaries.
