Invitation for the exhibition „The Life and Times of the Writer Karel Čapek“ in Trondheim

We would like to invite you to the exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the famous Czech writer Karel Čapek in Folkebibliotek in Trondheim on April 4 – 21, 2016. The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Oslo and with the Karel Čapek Memorial in Stará Huť.
 

The lecture on Karel Čapek by Prof. Roar Lishaugen from the University Oslo will take place in Trondheim Folkebibliotek on April 21, 2016 from 18 hrs. The lecture will be in Norwegian.

The exhibition commemorates the 125th anniversary of the birth of Karel Čapek. Karel Čapek is presented as a journalist and philosopher of a great international importance, who defended democratic values and tolerance against evil and violence throughout his lifetime. The exhibition highlights his part in the birth of modern sci-fi literature and his understanding of children´s soul. A special attention is paid to his concept of “robot” in the play R.U.R. and his illustrations in Dashenka, or the Life of a Puppy aimed at children. Another part of the exhibition is dedicated to his life, his loves or his hobbies.
