Czech evening at the Jewish Museum in Oslo and exhibition and lecture on Villa Tugendhat at Villa Stenersen in Oslo

On February 3, 2016 the Czech evening will be held at the Jewish Museum in Oslo from 18 hrs. On February 5, 2016 the lecture on Villa Tugendhat at Villa Stenersen will be held from 19 hrs. where it will be possible to view the exhibition focusing on Villa Tugendhat from February 5 to April 24, 2016.


 

On Wednesday, February 3, 2016 the Czech evening will be held at the Jewish Museum in Oslo (Calmeyers gate 15 b) from 18 hrs.

Lectures on Otto Eisler are the main focus of the evening. The lecture of academic director M. Tangestuen will be dedicated to the fate of Otto Eisler who came to Norway in 1940 as a refugee and was arrested while trying to flee to Sweden and deported from Oslo to Auschwitz in 1943.  Prof. Petr Pelčák´s lecture will be focused on Otto Eisler as a modern architect who worked in Brno before and after the 2nd World War. The performance of Janáček Quartet will follow.

On Friday, February 5, 2016 the lecture "Re-restoring of Villa Tugendhat, Many Lives of the House" will be held in English at Villa Stenersen (Tuengen Allé 10, Oslo) from 19 hrs. The lecture will be presented by architect Iveta Černá, director of Villa Tugendhat.

Villa Stenersen will be open from 18 hrs. Before and after the lecture you will be able to view the exhibition on Villa Tugendhat.

From February 5 to April 24, 2016 the exhibition on Villa Tugendhat will be held at Villa Stenersen (Tuengen Allé 10, Oslo). Villa Stenersen is open every Sunday from 12 to 16 hrs.

Villa Tugendhat of Greta and Fritz Tugendhat from the years 1929-1930 was designed by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It is the only monument of modern architecture in the Czech Republic registered on UNESCO World Heritage List. This famous functionalist villa in Brno has been a source of inspiration of architect of Villa Stenersen.
