The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Oslo organized its annual meeting with the Honorary Consuls of the Czech Republic and the directors of the regional offices of CzechTrade, CzechTourism, and the Czech Centre for Scandinavia. The discussions reflected a growing interest in supporting Czech activities in Norway across all regions. On the margins of the meeting, Ambassador David Červenka officially presented the consular commission to the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bergen, Mr. Carl-Fredrik Joys, extending his mandate until 2030.

On 13 October 2025, Ambassador David Červenka opened the annual meeting by personally thanking the Honorary Consuls for their dedicated work on behalf of the Czech Republic – Mr. Arve Hjulstad Johansen (Northern Norway), Mr. Carl-Fredrik Joys (Bergen), and Ms. Petra Sestak-Flagestad (Trondheim). He highlighted their contribution to the organization of the recent elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The Ambassador also informed the participants about the main activities in 2025 and outlined plans for 2026. In the ensuing discussion, the Honorary Consuls shared their experiences and ideas for strengthening the Czech presence in Norway in the coming year.

The next part of the program focused on cooperation between the Honorary Consuls and representatives of Czech government agencies active in Scandinavia. The Director of the Czech Centre in Stockholm, Ms. Nikola Liptáková Vallmostrand, personally presented the Czech Republic’s priorities in the field of culture. Ms. Lucie Vallin, Director of CzechTourism, and Mr. Michal Sontodinomo, Director of CzechTrade for Scandinavia, followed with information on upcoming projects and shared the latest data on tourism and trade between the Czech Republic and Norway. Together with Embassy representatives, they identified several new opportunities to promote Czech exports, tourism, science, and culture.

“It was a very fruitful and inspiring meeting. By sharing experience and coordinating our activities, we are strengthening the position of the Czech Republic in Norway and across the entire Scandinavian region,” summarized Ambassador David Červenka. On the sidelines of the meeting, the Ambassador officially presented the consular commission to Mr. Carl-Fredrik Joys, Honorary Consul in Bergen, extending his mandate for the Rogaland and Vestland regions until 2030.

In Norway, the Czech Republic is represented by three Honorary Consuls who enhance the country’s diplomatic presence and actively support Czech interests in their regions. The Honorary Consuls assist with consular services, maintain contacts with local Czech communities, and promote the development of trade, culture, and tourism.
