Effective from 1 September 2019, the Government of the Czech Republic resolved to introduce its new concept of targeted economic migration and to start applying quotas for the reception of applications for the Employee Cards and long-term visas for the purpose of entrepreneurship.
The main objective of the concept of targeted economic migration is to strengthen the inflow of skilled labour force from selected countries into the Czech Republic. The resolution was enacted under Ref. No. 220/2019 of 26 August 2019.
For the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nairobi, the annual quota for applications for the Employee Cards and for the long-term visas for the purpose of entrepreneurship was set to 60 and 12 respectively. Both quotas are included in the Resolution of the Government Decree and cannot be exceeded.
The annual quotas are divided bi-monthly, i.e. for each period of 2 months (January / February, March / April, May / June, July / August, September / October, November / December) the Embassy will accept the maximum of
- 10 applications for the Employee Cards;
- 2 applications for long-term visas for the purpose of entrepreneurship.
Upon exhaustion of the bi-monthly quota, the prospective applicants will be informed on the website of the Embassy.
The appointment system remains unchanged.
