Politico – Military Cooperation of Visegrad Countries Presented at the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation under Czech Chairmanship

On Wednesday 18 September, a Security Dialogue at the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation was devoted to the topic of pol-mil cooperation of V4 countries.

In his remarks, the Chair of the FSC Ambassador Ivo Šrámek emphasized the deep conviction of the Czech Republic about the importance of regional politico – military cooperation based on shared values and principles. He reminded of the historical background of the V4 cooperation in the period of integration of V4 countries into Euro – Atlantic structures, and of the undeniable positive impact of this cooperation on increasing transparency and building mutual confidence. He also mentioned the practical effects on the ground – for instance in terms of increasing interoperability of armed forces, enhancing the efficiency in terms of equipment, training and deployment.

Panelists from the V4 countries elaborated further on these issues, the Czech Republic was represented by 1st Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant – General Jaromír Zůna.
