Jan Marian appointed as the new Head of the Permanent Mission in Vienna

Jan Marian, a career diplomat and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed the new head of the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic in Vienna. He took up his post on December 1, 2025. On December 4 and 5, he will attend the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna in his new role.
He replaced Ivo Šrámek, who has been in office since September 2018 until August 2025, as the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the UN, OSCE, and other international organizations in Vienna.
"Jan Marian has been with the Ministry for 17 years and is an experienced diplomat with experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy. I wish him every success in his new role as head of the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic in Vienna," said Minister Lipavský on his appointment.
In addition to his position as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Marian has previously headed the Communications Department, served as Special Envoy for the Eastern Partnership, and worked at the Embassy in Moscow and the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU.
