
Czech students won 3rd place in OSCE #UnitedCVE Peer to Peer competition

A team of Czech students from the Masaryk University won 3rd place in the second regional competition organized in the framework of the OSCE campaign #UnitedCVE aimed at preventing hate speech and violent extremism through a social or digital initiative.
The competition is a part of the Peer to Peer: Facebook Global Digital Challenge. The competition finale took place on 27 June 2017 at the OSCE in Vienna. Students from the Masaryk University presented their project "Zvol si info". Teams from 64 university across 25 countries altogether participated in the regional competition. Congratulations!
The project of students from the Department of Political Science "Zvol si info" is aimed at combating the spread of disinformation among youth through social networks. So far, students have organized around 50 lectures for high schools in the Czech Republic and Slovakia which have been devoted especially to instructions on how to detect "fake news" in order to increase students' media literacy. The students want to continue their activities and also plan to publish a book on disinformation.
