Scope of Activities:

Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the UN, OSCE and Other International Organizations in Vienna is an integral part of the wide network of Czech diplomatic missions in the world. It is tasked with representation and promotion of the Czech interests and priorities in international organizations and/or their specialized agencies and bodies in Vienna.

Within the framework of United Nations (UN) bodies and agencies the Permanent Mission deals with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) or Office for Outer Space Affairs (OOSA).

Major part of the Mission's work is dedicated to the activities within the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE has its roots in the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe that began in Helsinki more than 30 years ago. It is a unique regional security organization that deals with three main areas: politico-military, economic and environmental and human dimension. OSCE embraces altogether 57 participating States from Europe, North America and Central Asia. It is a forum for political negotiations and decision-making in the fields of early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation, and puts the political will of its participating States into practice through its unique network of field missions and institutions. Further well-known activities of the OSCE are elections and freedom of media monitoring.

The Permanent Mission represents the Czech Republic in several other international organizations and bodies, among others in International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), international export control regimes, such as the Wassenaar Arrangement (WA), International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
