The Czech Republic reiterated its commitments to the Sendai Framework at the GP2017

The fifth session of the Global Platform 2017 took place 22-26 May, 2017 in Cancun. This is the main forum at the global level for strategic advice, coordination, partnership development and the review of progress in the implementation of international instruments on disaster risk reduction (DRR). The delegation of the Czech Republic headed by Mr. Jan Kára, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Czech republic to the UN in Geneva, actively participated at the session.

In his statement (DOC, 35 KB), the head of delegation underlined the activities of the Czech National Platform for DRR and the progress achieved in implementing of the Sendai Framework in the Czech Republic, with reference to relevant strategies and action plans. He pointed out to the monitoring and assessment, especially to the threats analysis of the Czech Republic and the methodology and database of fire protection of historical buildings. Concerning the international cooperation, the Ambassador drew attention to the Czech commitments in the field of DRR at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul and to the fact, that the Czech Republic included the DRR as one of the focus areas for its humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.
