Pledging Conference of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees 2025

On December 2, 2025, the annual pledging conference of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was held, during which the Czech Republic, represented by Permanent Representative Václav Bálek, reaffirmed its long-standing support for the organization. The Czech Republic praised the work of UNHCR and emphasized the importance of continuing international solidarity at a time when the global number of refugees and internally displaced persons is at historic levels.
In 2025, the Czech Republic contributed 3 million EUR to support refugees, with funding directed to key crisis areas such as Syria and Afghanistan, as well as to Chad and Mauritania, host countries facing heavy strain due to the massive influx of refugees.
