On Friday, April 4, 2025, the Permanent Mission of Japan hosted a donor meeting of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), during which broad support was expressed for the organization's work on disaster risk prevention and enhancing resilience through early warning systems.
Czechia regularly provides financial contributions to UNDRR, specifically to support the implementation of the Sendai Framework and the related programs. At the meeting, Ambassador Bálek presented Czech efforts, reaffirming the country’s support for the organization and our commitment to the practical implementation of sustainable early warning systems in fragile countries, particularly in Africa. The Czech Mission in Geneva plans to continue focusing on this issue.
UNDRR has the necessary expertise and programs aimed at preventing and enhancing resilience to disaster risks. Investments in these preventive measures lead to long-term savings, as the costs associated with disaster prevention are significantly lower than the costs of addressing the damage caused by natural or other types of disasters.
