Czech Ambassador meets the new President of the International Committee of the Red Cross

The evaluation of cooperation during the Czech EU Presidency and current humanitarian challenges, especially in connection with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, were the main topics of the meeting between Ambassador Václav Bálek and Mirjana Spoljaric, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The meeting took place on Tuesday, 13 December 2022. Both representatives appreciated the long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation, currently especially in the context of the ending Czech EU Presidency and its concrete results. Not only humanitarian operations, but also issues of international humanitarian law and cyber security remain the key topics of the Czech – ICRC joint efforts.
M. Spoljaric became president of the ICRC in October 2022. This was the first meeting with a Czech representative at such level.
