The 39th Session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a mechanism examining human right situation in all UN Member States, takes place from 1 to 12 November 2021. Czechia will engage in reviews of seven countries.
During the current UPR Session, Czechia will participate in reviews of Greece, Hungary, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Eswatini, Thailand and Ireland.
Other countries under the review are Suriname, Samoa, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Papua New Guinea, Antigua and Barbuda, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The UN Human Rights Council will adopt a report from each country’s review at its 49th session in February 2022 to provide a basis for implementation of adopted recommendations. The next Universal Periodic Review of these countries will take place in approximately 5 years. In the meantime, the remaining UN Member States will be reviewed.
