UPR38: Czechia to engage in the review of the human rights situations in UN Member States

The 38th Session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a mechanism examining human right situation in all UN Member States, takes place from 3 to 14 May. Czechia will engage in reviews of 9 countries.

During the current UPR Session, Czechia will participate in reviews of Mozambique, Estonia, Paraguay, Belgium, Denmark, Somalia, Latvia, Sierra Leone and Singapore. Other countries under review are Namibia, Niger, Palau, Seychelles and Solomon Islands.

The UN Human Rights Council will adopt a report from each country’s review at it 48th session in September 2021 to provide a basis for implementation of adopted recommendations. The next universal periodic review of these countries will take place in approximately 5 years. In the meantime, the remaining UN Member States will be reviewed.
