HRC33: Czech Republic condemns human rights violations in the world

The Czech Republic has condemned grave human rights violations in China, Russia, Bahrain, Venezuela, South Sudan and the DPRK.

Speaking at the debate on situations requiring the attention of the Human Rights Council on 19 September 2016 at the Council's 33rd session, the Czech Ambassador Jan Kára condemned the sentencing of human rights lawyers and expressed concern about the new anti-terrorism legislation in Russia. In the statement (DOC, 25 KB), the Czech Republic also condemned cases of deprivation of nationality and harassment of human rights defenders in Bahrain and called on Russia to release prisoners of conscience jailed in the aftermath of the illegal annexation of Crimea.
