On 28 November, Veronika Stromšíková, Director of the Control Policies Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, spoke to express considerable concerns over the Russian accusations against the USA and Ukraine.
“The programmes run in Ukraine by the USA belong to the wide range of capacity-building and international assistance efforts, aimed at increasing biological security. This is in the interest of all of us. No evidence has been provided that would raise any doubts regarding the legitimacy of those activities.”, Stromšíková said. The Biological Weapons Convention prohibits the development, production, acquisition, transfer, stockpiling and use of biological and toxin weapons. It was the first multilateral disarmament treaty banning an entire category of weapons of mass destruction.
