During the Sixth Review Conference, Czechia supported the universalization of the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the use of Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW). Also, he underlined its role related to the application of the international humanitarian law by keeping abreast of any new technological advances in weapons technologies, including the lethal autonomous weapon systems (LAWS).
The Review Conference, held from 13 to 17 December 2021, was a key opportunity for High Contracting Parties to take stock of, and build on, the important role the Convention has been playing as the humanitarian arms control instrument in minimizing suffering in armed conflict, in order to ensure that it remains fit for purpose as warfare evolves.
