Czech Republic Elected Vice-President of the 13th Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty

Date: 07 October 2026 - 27 August 2027, Venue: Geneva

The Czech Republic has been elected to serve on the bureau of the 13th Conference of States Parties (CSP13) to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) as Vice-President representing the Eastern European Group.

The election was confirmed through a silence procedure involving the Treaty’s 118 States Parties, initiated on 16 September 2026 by the President of CSP13, Ambassador David Riley.

The election of the Czech Republic to the Conference leadership reflects the confidence placed in Czechia by ATT States Parties and confirms the country's active role in conventional arms control, its support for the universalization and effective implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty, and its long-standing commitment to international disarmament and non-proliferation efforts.

The Czech Republic will serve on the CSP13 Bureau from 7 October 2026 until the election of the Vice-President representing the Eastern European Group for the 14th Conference of States Parties.

CSP13 has four Vice-Presidents now. In addition to the Czech Republic, the Vice-Presidents are Japan, Mauritania and Peru. They play an important role in supporting the President of the Conference, and their experience, perspectives and regional insights are highly valued.

One of the Bureau's key tasks in the coming months will be to support the development of the ATT's strategic framework for the next five years.

In past, the Czech Republic was an active member of the ATT Steering Committee in the period from 2021 to 2023.
