The event was supported by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic and hosted by the Spanish cultural institute, similar to the previous year. The festival officially opened on May 13 with the Polish EU presidency presenting the film "Cathedral." The public screening on May 15 featured the Czech animated film "The Goose," directed by Jan Míka Jr. The festival's success was further enhanced by the participation of individual EU member states based in Manchester.
