Signature Authentication, Certification of a True Copy

Do you need to verify your signature or certify a true copy? Here you can find out how to do it.

Consular and Visa Section is open for public every Monday (from 9:00 to 12:00 hrs.) and every Wednesday (from 13:00 to 15:30 hrs.), first come first served basis.

A) SIGNATURE AUTHENTICATION

Purpose of the signature authentication:

Signature authentication is an official confirmation that a signature on a document belongs to the person who has signed it. On some specific documents, such as various declarations or powers of attorney, this official confirmation is required in order for the document to be considered legally valid or serve its intended legal purpose.

Requirements:

To authenticate your signature on a document, you must:

1. Come in person at the Embassy on time (mail or DHL and similar are not accepted),

2. Present your identification document (valid passport, ID), and

3. Pay the consular fee in cash.

NOTE: A consular signature authentication conveys no judgement on the part of the authentication officer as to the validity or truth of an authenticated document. Despite the fact that only signature, and not the contents, is authenticated, Embassy of the Czech Republic will not authenticate signatures on documents that conflict with Czech legislation. Also, signatures on blank pages will not be authenticated.

B) CERTIFICATION OF A TRUE COPY

Purpose of the certification:

A certified copy is a photocopy of a filed document (the original), legal or other, in its entirety that is sworn to be a true copy by a competent authority. When presenting copies of specific documents, this official confirmation is sometimes required in order for the copy to serve the same legal purpose as the original document.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Lusaka requires all applicants to register prior to visiting the office. Appointment can be made strictly via email: consulate_lusaka@mzv.cz

Requirements:

To certify a true copy, you must:

1. Come in person at the Embassy on time (mail or DHL and similar are not accepted),

2. Present your identification document (valid passport, ID), and

3. Pay the consular fee in cash.

NOTE: We will not certify a copy of any proof of identification (such as passports, ID cards, drivers licenses etc.), bankbooks, cheques, tickets, coupons, geometric or technical designs. We will also not certify a copy of an original document that conflicts with Czech or South African legislation, has modifications that could impair its credibility, or its contents may not be reliably evaluated by the Embassy.
