171 years anniversary of the birth of President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk

On the occasion of the 171st anniversary of the birth of the first Czechoslovak president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, Ambassador Libor Sečka, together with West Ham United football players Vladimír Coufal and Tomáš Souček, laid flowers on March 10th at the house where Masaryk stayed in London during the First World War.
Masaryk's house is located in the residential area of Hampstead, only a few hundred meters from the current residence of the Czech Ambassador. Masaryk lived in London since 1915 and spent a total of 20 months here. He was the founder of the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at University College London, which he opened with an inaugural lecture in 1915 and continued lecturing at the school. In addition to lecturing, Masaryk wrote memoranda, brochures and articles and also used all possible ways to lobby for the Czech, resp. Czechoslovak question abroad.
