The Czech Ambassador Libor Sečka hosted a Garden Party for the Aylesbury Club, a partner of the Czech Embassy in London, at his residence on 25th July 2018.
By organising the Garden Party the Ambassador Sečka returned the favour to the Aylesbury Club which kindly invited him to visit Aylesbury to join the Club’s annual formal dinner last year. There is a historical link between the Aylesbury Club and the Czech Republic represented by the towns of Wingrave and Aston Abbotts (in the Aylesbury district) which became the home of the president Edvard Beneš and his private office staff during the Second World War. During that time, many relationships were formed between the Czechoslovaks and the local residents and many of those bonds have been kept till today.
The Garden party hosted 30 Club members and their wives and all of the guests praised the long-term friendly relationship between the Czech Republic and this regional town.
The Aylesbury Club was established in 1810 by local merchants who wanted to meet on regular basis and to build new contacts and partnerships. The annual dinner, serving the traditional regional dish – the Aylesbury duck, became one of the Club’s signature activities. This strictly gentlemen’s Club has successfully maintained its aims and traditions until today.
