
The Czech President's visit in London

On 16 June 2017, the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, paid a one-day working visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The President of the Czech Republic and his wife Ivana and daughter Kateřina were given an audience by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
During his visit, President Miloš Zeman also awarded five war veterans of Czechoslovak origin with the Medal for Heroism and handed over a diploma on promotion to Brigadier General Miroslav Liškutín, Ret.
The Medals For Heroism were ceremmonially given to Colonel Rudolf Čapek, Mrs. Anděla Haida (born Beníčková), Colonel John Pemberton (born Zbyšek Nečas), Colonel Arnošt Polák (born Pollack) and Major General Ivan Otto Schwarz.
The Czech President also held a meeting with the British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson. They discussed bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom.
At the end of the visit, President Miloš Zeman and his wife laid a wreath at the Battle of Britain monument, to pay tribute to many brave Czechoslovaks who served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War.
