On 4 September 2023, the Czech Footprints exhibition was officially opened at the Lendava Cultural Centre at György Zala Square. The exhibition was opened by Mr Pavel Sladký, Deputy Head of Mission of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana, Mr Janez Magyar, Mayor of Lendava, and Ms Judit Zágorec - Csuka, Director of KKC Lendava.
In their speeches, all three highlighted with satisfaction the successful cooperation between the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the municipality of Lendava and wished to continue this successful cooperation in the future. The Czech Footprints exhibition is the third exhibition of the Embassy to be presented in Lendava. Last year, the exhibition Jože Plečnik and Prague was held at the same venue and the Lendava library hosted the exhibition Translations of Czech Literature into Slovenian.
The 22-panel exhibition Czech Footprints in Slovenia presents the close ties between the two nations and personalities of Czech origin in the fields of architecture, music, theatre, film, photography, science, medicine, etc., who have successfully contributed to the building of Slovenian national identity, culture, education, infrastructure and, last but not least, the sports movement, and have made an indelible mark on Slovenian history. The vast majority of them have even found a new home and settled here. The main idea of the exhibition is to recall the Czech footprints in Slovenia and to preserve the work of Czech compatriots in living memory.
The exhibition was initiated by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana, which is also the author of the exhibition in cooperation with the Prague Castle Administration (design of the exhibition).
The Czech Footprints exhibition has already been presented in Ljubljana, Škofja Loka, Hrastnik, Celje, the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence and in The Park of Military History Pivka. Now can be seen until the end of September (30 September 2023) in the beautiful and unique building of the Cultural Centre in Lendava, which is the work of the world-famous Hungarian architect Imre Makovecz.
The exhibition can also be viewed in the attachment.
