The Vernissage of this exhibition was held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 7.00 PM in the premises of NLB Galerija Avla.

Mr. Adolf Born (1930 – 2016) is one of the most famous Czech painters, caricaturists, cartoonists, illustrators, graphic artists, animators and scenographers. He is also the author of cartoon humour of unmistakable manuscript. He draws his inspirations for graphic work from travelling impressions, admiration to historic and literary characters, mythological heros, theatre or memoirs of old Prague′s carnivals.

The illustrations of Mr. Born decorate more than 260 books. He participated in realization of several dozens of animated films as a designer and co-director. He organized hundreds of exhibitions round the world and he is a laureate of many Czech as well as international awards namely State award of the Czech Republic – Medal for Merit or French L’ordre des Arts et des Lettres (grade de chevalier). Mr. Born was delclared the best caricaturist of 1974 at the International competition in Montreal.  He is a laureate of numerous Medal s of Honour for book illustrations as well as an award for animated film.

This exhibition is by no means the first separate exhibition of Mr. Adolf Born in Slovenia and also first exhibition in memoriam to his uncompleted 86th birthday.

The Exhibition in NLB Galerija Avla was ceremonially opened by H.E. Mrs. Věra Zemanová, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Slovenia togehter with Mrs. Ema Bornová on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 19.00. The exhibition is to be seen from October 5 till November 30, 2016.
