The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Statement on the Escalation of Tensions in Northern Kosovo

On May 29, dozens of KFOR soldiers were injured in an attack in northern Kosovo. The attack is an unacceptable act of violance against members of the mission that is providing security to all Kosovo citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is following the developments in northern Kosovo with great concern. The MFA firmly condemns the violent actions against KFOR soldiers in Zvečan and expresses solidarity with the KFOR members that have suffered injuries in the course of their duties.

The Ministry also calls on all sides to stop violence and deescalate the tensions immediately and appeals to Pristina and Belgrade to return to the dialogue on the normalization of relations, which is the most appropriate means for solving disputes. Any violent and provocative actions threaten the stability of the country as well as the whole region.
