Statement of the MFA on the murder of Coptic Christians in Libya

Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the hideous murders of 21 Egyptian citizens in Libya who were executed by the adherents of the so-called Islamic State on Sunday. We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The yesterday's barbaric crime reminds us again of ISIL/DAESH´s true nature, which is neither Islamic, nor a State. It is a terrorist organization whose cruelty knows no boundaries. The Czech Republic stands ready to assist the UN in its efforts to enforce a political solution to the ongoing Libyan crisis, a starting point for eradication of terrorism that represents a real threat to Europe.
