We welcome the political agreement signed by Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and Dr. Abdullah Abdullah to form a government of national unity. We believe that these important steps are in the interest of all Afghans and contribute to the stability of the whole country.

The Czech Republic has fully supported reconstruction and stabilization of Afghanistan over the years. Czech observers participated in an unprecedented audit of all ballots in Kabul to make sure that the election outcome is legitimate. We look forward to cooperating closely with the new Afghan government, which will have a strong mandate to implement necessary economic and political reforms, sign SOFA agreement with NATO and tackle remaining security challenges.
