As of July 3, 2024, the Czech Republic recognizes only biometric passports issued by the Russian Federation. This does not pertain to 1) children younger than 15 and 2) persons participating in the Civil Society Program and holders of visas/residence permits issued in the interest of CZE.
Starting April 1st, 2025, the holders of travel documents issued by the Russian Federation, including holders of long term residence permits and visas issued by the Czech Republic, are obliged to present biometric passport only on entry and during the stay on the territory of the Czech Republic.
New visa applications: CZE does not issue visas to nonbiometric passports issued by the Russian Federation. This also concerns applications filed with nonbiometric passports before adoption of this measure. In such a case, visa will only be issued into a newly issued biometric passport.
