Eight Young Indonesians Receive Awards in Art Contest

More than 25 thousand entries by young artists from around 70 countries have been submitted to the 42nd International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice (Czech Republic), themed Family Farming, or Our Garden and Field. Among the crowd of competitors, two exceptional photos captured by M. Wahyu Ramadhan from Gresik won a medal.
Besides, students of Ananda Visual Art School in Bandung, Mentari Pagi Art School in Jember and Panti Yatim Orphanage in Jakarta have been selected for an Honourable Mention.
The talented young artists will receive their awards from Ambassador Tomáš Smetánka at a ceremony held in the Ambassador’s residence (Jl. Imam Bonjol 23, Menteng, Jakarta Pusat) on Thursday, 27th November 2014 at 14:00.
The yearly Lidice competition and exhibition, named after a village razed during World War II, is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and the Czech Commission for UNESCO. It was established to commemorate child victims from the village of Lidice near Prague and all other children who have died or suffered in wars.
Children and art schools in Indonesia are invited to participate in the upcoming 43rd Lidice 2015 Exhibition. Its theme is Light, as 2015 has been proclaimed by the United Nations as the International Year of Light.
