Call for Proposals for Small Local Projects for 2027

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jakarta announces the launch of the annual call for proposals for Small Local Projects for the year 2027. The deadline for submission of project proposals is 31 October 2026

Small Local Projects are development projects of limited scale identified by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jakarta and, upon approval by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, administered directly by the Embassy.

The implementer of the project must be a local entity in the respective country (in this case, Indonesia and Timor-Leste). It can be an educational, health, social or cultural institution, a non-governmental non-profit organization, a cooperative, a local government authority, a local community, etc., which will assume contractual responsibility for the substantive implementation of the project vis-à-vis the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jakarta.

The aim of this instrument of the Czech Republic’s bilateral development cooperation is not to build the capacity of the implementer but to support its small-scale development activities. A Small Local Project supported by the Czech Republic should bring not only development outputs but also contribute to enhancing the visibility of the Czech Republic in the respective country. Various projects may be supported, for example those focused on local development, improvement of health or medical care, poverty reduction, access to education, training of people in rural areas, environmental protection, or improving the position of women in society.

Through this scheme, the Czech Republic supports necessary local initiatives which lack sufficient financial resources and need assistance. It is desirable that the implementer cooperates with Czech entities, e.g. by purchasing Czech products, using Czech know-how, etc. This development tool may also be used for participation in larger programmes with other donors, especially from the EU.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR A SMALL LOCAL PROJECT CONTRIBUTION

A Small Local Project can only be implemented by a local entity with legal personality in the country of implementation. Thus, an individual cannot apply on their own behalf. Contributions can be awarded only to non-political and non-governmental organizations.

The project must be relevant to the needs and priorities of the target country and must align with the priorities of the Czech Republic’s foreign development cooperation.

BUDGET AND POSSIBLE CONTRIBUTION

The financial contribution for a Small Local Project ranges from CZK 250,000 to 500,000 (approximately USD 11.500 – 23.000). Each organization may apply for contributions for several projects, but only one project per applicant can be supported from the funds of Czech development cooperation. The approved amount in CZK is binding and must be used for conversion into other currencies.

The project should be purposeful, economical, and efficient. Therefore, all payments must be documented by receipts. Support costs related to project administration, including salaries/fees, per diems, accommodation, travel expenses, insurance, vaccinations and other personnel-related expenses of the project manager and the implementing organisation's administrative staff, must not exceed 8 % of the total project budget. It is recommended that the contribution does not cover the entire budget of the project and that co-financing from other sources is ensured.

The project must be implemented between the signing of the contract (approximately in March 2027) and October 2027.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

The project can start after the contract is signed, usually in March 2027, and all activities including the financial settlement must be completed by 31 October 2027.

Tangible outputs of the project must be marked with the MFA logo or the CzechAid logo. In the case of intangible project activities, it is always necessary to mention financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

All projects should aim at sustainability without the need for long-term support from the Czech Republic or other donors.
