Award giving ceremony The 44th International Children’s competition of Fine Arts Lidice

On 26th January 2017 at The Residence of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mr. Ivan Hotek, The Embassy of Czech Republic gave awards to 9 Indonesian children who won 2016 Lidice children fine art competition.
 

For this 44th annual competition, the theme was dedicated to “SCHOOL? EDUCATION”, and saw 18,075 participating children from 77 countries. The drawings of the awarded Indonesian young artists were exhibited for 6 months from June to November 2016 in Lidice, Czech Republic, among 1,390 other winning exhibits.

 

Mr. Ambassador handed over the award to each of the Indonesian children winners witnessed by their parents and their school representatives, in a very informal atmosphere. Mr. Ambassador emphasized the importance of this event as the winning children will always remember what they have achieved in their very early age and that this enhances the ties between Indonesia and Czech Republic where the competition was made.

 

Brief information about Lidice fine art children annual competition:

The competition was established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice, who had been murdered by German Nazis, as well as other children who had died in wars. Although national initially, this exhibition became an international one in 1973 and since then it has become well known among children and teachers not only in the Czech Republic but literally all over the world.
