At the end of July 2026, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi unveiled a new outdoor exhibition at Gallery 13 CVA, the embassy's open-air exhibition space. Organised in collaboration with the Czech Centre Hanoi, the exhibition Visit Czechoslovakia! The Stories of Czech and Slovak Vintage Travel Posters presents a curated selection of reproductions of historic Czechoslovak travel posters created between 1918 and 1938. Through these iconic works, visitors can discover how graphic design helped shape the image of Czechoslovakia as a modern, open and forward-looking country. The exhibition will remain on display until November 2026
The exhibition features works by leading artists of the interwar period who helped define the distinctive visual language of Czechoslovak travel posters. Combining striking modernist compositions, bold typography and idealised landscapes, these posters promoted tourism while serving as an important instrument of national representation abroad. The exhibition is curated by Nicholas D. Lowry.
The exhibition is part of Gallery 13 CVA's 2026–2027 curatorial theme, Journey: Travel and Exploration, and introduces Vietnamese audiences to an important chapter of Czech graphic design and visual culture. At the same time, it reflects the long-standing cooperation between the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi and the Czech Centre Hanoi in promoting Czech culture and strengthening Czech-Vietnamese cultural ties. Gallery 13 CVA is supported by Škoda Auto, whose partnership helps make the gallery's long-term exhibition programme possible.
