Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Erbil has a vacancy for the position of ASSISTANT OF CONSUL GENERAL/SECRETARY OF THE CONSULATE.

Those shortlisted for interview assessment will be contacted. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a competence-based interview at which a written test will also be conducted.
The Interviews will be scheduled at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Erbil on 24 October 2021 but this is subject to change.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo security-vetting procedures. Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable clearances and reference checks.
Job Description
The Assistant of Consul General/Secretary of the Consulate is supervised by the Consul General or by a supervisor authorized by the Consul General and commits himself/herself to conduct the following work according to instructions of supervisor:
- Receive and screen phone calls and redirect them when appropriate and undertake occasional receptionist duties;
- Handle all outgoing or incoming correspondence of Consulate General (letters, packages etc.);
- Conduct communication of Consulate General, incl. written, with local authorities, especially in Kurdish and/or Arabic languages;
- Attend meetings and keep minutes;
- Translate and interpret (Kurdish-Arabic-English);
- Maintain Consul General’s agenda and assist in planning appointments, meetings, etc.;
- Make travel arrangements for Consul General;
- File and update contact information of officials, suppliers, external partners, etc. of Consulate General;
- Maintain electronic and paper records ensuring information is organized and easily accessible;
- Assist in preparations of program and logistic support of visits;
- Conduct research and prepare presentations or reports as assigned;
- Provide any additional work assigned by supervisor.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
Native speaker in Kurdish, fluent in Arabic and English. The Czech language knowledge would be advantage.
A qualification equivalent to or above Bachelor degree in an area of study (e.g. Business Administration, Law, English Language) directly related to the job vacancy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programmes, Outlook, Word, Excel and web based research tools and the use of social media such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Two or more years working in a similar field such as administration, protocol, customer services, hospitality.
A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
Working Hours and Remuneration:
The salary for this role is payable 12 times per year. The bonus of 13th and 14th months remuneration will be based on performance and available funding. The salary and remuneration are subject to review and may be altered. No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
Normal working hours at Czech Consulate General are Sunday - Thurday 0830–1700 with 30 minutes lunch break. The annual leave entitlement is 15 working days plus 10 days of additional holidays of public holidays approved by the local government. The Consulate General recognizes only the national holidays of the Czech Republic.
The successful candidate will be subject to a 90 days probationary period.
