Czech support to the KRI: agreements signed for donations of medical equipment to two maternity wards in Erbil and Shaqlawa

In confirmation of continued Czech support for the post-crisis stabilization of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the Czech Consul General in Erbil Mr. Lukáš Gjurič signed on Thursday 23 July 2026 two agreements with the Director General of Health for the Erbil Province, Dr. Dlovan M. Fatih, to transfer needed high-quality, Czech-produced technological equipment to the Erbil Maternity Teaching Hospital and the Maternity & Pediatric Ward of the Shaqlawa Teaching Hospital.
The transfer and installation of the equipment is scheduled for completion by the end of October of this year.
The two recipient hospitals are among many government-run health institutions in the KRI which are coping with the increased burden of population shifts of recent years, including war-time refugees and internally displaced persons. Czechia recognizes the Kurdistan Regional Government's contributions toward their safety and well-being.
