Renovation of the Rovia High School

The Small Scale Project (SSP) for 2022 has been completed. Six new classrooms for girls attending Rovia High School in Rovia (Bardarash district, Duhok) were festive opened and handed over to female students.

On 18 September 2022, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Erbil (CG Erbil) festive opened and handed over six new classrooms, which are partially air-conditioned. We are happy that our partner organization was able to complete the SSP before the start of the new school year.

The NGO Rwanga Foundation, given its vast experience and very good facilities, was able to implement this project in a relatively short time and to the required quality. The environment was not forgotten, and a new lawn was created next to the new school building. All together, we then planted two trees as a symbol of support for the fight against climate change in the Kurdistan Region (IQ). #Czechia4Climate

To illustrate how significant this help was, it should be noted that three schools operate together in one school building at the same time, rotating shifts during the day. In total, approximately 1,200 students rotate through the school building in a single day. With the opening of the new classrooms, it is anticipated that there will be a reduction in class sizes. Currently, the average class size is somewhere between 40-45 students.

Mr. Ismael Mohammed, Mayor of Bardarash district, Mr. Antar Ferhad, Administrator of Rovia sub-district, Mr. Mahdi Khalil, Director of Education, Mr. Saud Aziz, Director of School Buildings (Deputy DG Education, Duhok), Mr. Saib Rathwan, Director of Bardarash Police, and Mr. Abdulsalam Madani, Rwanga Foundation attended the opening ceremony. All the appointees highly appreciated the contribution of SSP in the form of promoting education in one of the youngest, and somewhat forgotten, district in KRI.

CG Erbil would like to thank all those involved in this SSP. We wish successful new school year and we look forward to working with them again.
