Beautiful “orange” Monday in Duhok

Czech Consulate General of the CR in Erbil (CZ CG) kept its word and paid a visit to CARE / CARE Iraq. We are trying to keep the connections among NGOs with the Czech footprints. In the past or present, it doesn´t matter. One of the NGOs, making it possible to find a spirit and memories of the successful mutual collaboration in KRI, is CARE Iraq. That was the main reason why we were here on Monday (July 29) and spent a few hours with amazing people who are doing a great job.

We had started at CARE Iraq office for a general briefing about the main activities. The triangle Health Care – Climate Changing – Women’s Rights is a significant guideline that exactly describes providing services for people. We did not forget to mention CARE Česká republika and the Czech projects e.g. WASH and MEDEVAC.

Office was “cool”, but a “hot” reality was laying outside. The first visit was at Malta Tree Nursery. Together with the manager of the Directorate of Forest and Rangeland, Duhok Governorate, we discussed water and green matters in Duhok city and governorate. We highly appreciate the mutual collaboration between CARE Iraq and the local authorities. We could see that the issue of water is taken here very seriously.

The second visit was to Lotus Flower Community Project funded by EU in Emergencies. We met with case workers, and we were familiarised with the activities that are provided by the project staff. The final discussion clarified and picturised the reality that people are facing every day in their common life here in KRI/IQ.

As is a Kurdish tradition, each successful meeting “must” be finished by lunch. Well, it happened, and the final brainstorming was totally supported by amazing, delicious Kurdish food.

CZ CG thanks everyone who prepared such a beautiful and inspiring day in Duhok for us.
